My Mother and I worked relentlessly on gathering vintage finds for well over a year but in the end we still needed more.  Crazy!!  We had several great people that helped us out on the last items we needed.  Although it all got crazy and somewhat of a pain to keep things straight, in the end we did the best we could.  Before I leave this out….I also have to say a MAJOR thank you to several great people that helped put our wedding invitations together.  January through August is pretty hairy with all the weddings and graduations that take place and this year was no different.  I stopped taking orders in February thinking I would be okay….WRONG.  I should have cut things off in December but at the same time it did help out in a big way.  Two of my very best friends whom also were my Maid of Honor and Matron of Honor….Kara and Vanessa….came in to help me on some of my orders as well as my wedding invitations.  Kara’s son, Ethan, also came to help and was so helpful!  My Mom was another huge helper and all the help I received was so wonderful.  It took some of the pressure off of me since I was so late getting my invites out (I didn’t follow my own advice I give clients….so do not do what I did).

Weddings are crazy and even more so when you hit the week of.  Sheesh!  I was a basket case but I tried not to show it so I didn’t get others all stressed out.  Did you know that I got the shingles about two weeks before the big day?!  Yeah….NOT so fun.  Thank goodness it was just on my torso and thank goodness we got it to clear up in time.  There were so many people that pitched in to help the final days and I will always be forever grateful.  It rained the day of our rehearsal, which was not helpful at all.  We weren’t able to set up outside and I got very stressed at how much there was to do.  Two really special people to me told me to relax because they would take care of things.  My cousins, Ashley Ramon and Gentry Adams, were my lifesavers.  Literally!  I basically told them what I was visioning and they put it all together plus some.  I didn’t see the final setup until after we took our pictures and I started crying because I was so overwhelmed with everything they did.  There were so many people that helped and we were so blessed to have such amazing people supporting us.

Now…one of the big things that made our wedding unique was the wedding party attire.  In the beginning, I was going back and forth on how I wanted the wedding party to be dressed.  I was more obsessed with that than finding my own dress.  Seriously…it is true!  I think I had it figured out after watching an episode of Mad Men…one of my favorite shows.  I would love to have worn the clothing from the 1950s to early 1960s so I went off searching for dresses and men’s attire that was inspired by that time.  I found some things but not quite what I was envisioning and definitely not in the budget for a wedding party of 22 people.  One of my Mom’s coworkers had recently purchased a ton of vintage sewing patterns from the 1920s to the 1960s.  She sent them home with Mom so that I could go through them.  (insert…My Mom works with such a special group of women that have been so kind to her as well as myself.  Thank you for ALL you do Gayle, Stephanie, Tammie and Jan.)  After going through them, I picked out my favorites and headed over to the Queen of Sewing…my Mima’s house.  I needed and wanted her input and she did just that.  She told me what would be good and what would not.  I would have never known because I have never sewed before.  We opted for a day dress that would be sleeveless with a full circle skirt.  My Mima also said she would like to sew them for me.  🙂  I was stoked but concerned if she would physically be able to.  She told me this was something special she wanted to do for me and with her doing them it made everything perfect.  She has done so many sewing jobs over the years and does such great work.  Not to brag or anything…BUT back when my Mom and her siblings were children she had designed a line of children’s clothes that she presented to Neiman Marcus.  They loved everything and proceeded to place and order, however, the number they were wanting my grandmother just could not produce.  So, she returned to Snyder and opened up her own children’s clothing boutique.  Long story short…My Mima did a fabulous job on all the girls skirts.  I am so blessed by her and I will be eternally grateful.  Now…go look at some pictures!  I will post my paper goods after the first of the year.
