Kitchen…Before

Those that do not know, Eric and I closed on our first home the middle of May….all while I was still in Texas.  Before I came home until our wedding, we had been searching for a home.  The one that we LOVED had so much red tape that we didn’t find it wise to pursue it.  I do not recommend looking at Short Sales…major pain.  We began to get discouraged but our luck changed one day.  Our realtor was out of town for spring break so we had a sub until he returned.  She took us to a new listing which was also a new construction.  It was just okay…nothing to make me salivate over.  On our way out, we spotted another construction site that was just starting.  We walked over and looked at it.  We both decided to look into.  Well, long story short that was the future site to our home.  I was able to make selections before I left for home but was unsuccessful in getting the kitchen just how I wanted it.  I am NOT a fan of dark cabinets.  I love the look of white cabinetry paired with white carrera marble and the openness that they give.  Unfortunately, the white cabinets  and marble I wanted was not going to happen…it was going to add way too much value of our home.  This basically means that you don’t want to overprice your home for the neighborhood….it is best to keep it fairly close in value for resale later.  Bummer, right!?  Sa la vie (that is life).  We now have darker wood cabinets and granite laminate countertops.  I am now challenged as what to do and how to pull my look together.  My favorite color is green and when paired with teal/aqua I am in heaven.  The colors also give a bit of a retro vibe which works great with all my vintage soda pop bottles that I collect.  I have somewhere between 40-50.  We are still going through boxes to find the rest of the kitchen items so once I am satisfied with the way it looks I will share.  Until then….this is what the kitchen looked like before (during construction).
